Cryptocurrency analytics platform Alphractal has issued its latest market assessment, highlighting that despite rising investor hopes, altcoin season has not yet arrived. According to the platform’s proprietary Altcoin Seasonality Index, the crypto market remains firmly in “Bitcoin season.” Only Newcomers Are Outperforming BTC Alphractal’s data reveals that only a small number of altcoins—mostly new market entrants—have managed to outperform Bitcoin over the last 60 days. Meanwhile, long-established altcoins continue to lag behind, offering little incentive for capital rotation away from Bitcoin. A visual breakdown via the Bitcoin vs. Altcoin Position Index shows the current dominance trends. Orange zones on the chart signal Bitcoin’s control of the market, while blue zones suggest a shift toward altcoins. Neutral, signal-free zones imply that the best strategy might be to avoid both sides for the time being. Altcoin Season Could Follow a Bitcoin Pause Despite the current dominance of Bitcoin, Alphractal notes that market signals are beginning to shift, and an official altcoin season could emerge in the coming days. Historically, altcoins have performed best when Bitcoin moves sideways or enters a short-term decline, allowing room for capital to flow into riskier assets. For now, though, Bitcoin remains king, and traders waiting for an altcoin breakout may need to stay patient—until the season truly changes.
